Photo Issues That Come Up

1. Photo retouched or filtered - IRN specifically checks for digital manipulation. Portugal's system compares the submitted photo against the one captured during biometric enrollment. Discrepancies - smoother skin, altered eye size, face shape changes - get flagged.
2. Background not pure white - Even very light cream or grey tones can fail the IRN's automated check. Use a bright, clean white backdrop.
3. Face height outside the 32-36mm window - IRN staff verify this measurement. Being too close or too far from the camera produces non-compliant face proportions.
4. Red-eye from flash photography - Flash reflections in the eyes are caught by the biometric scanner. Natural light or diffused studio flash avoids this problem.
5. Head not straight - Any tilt - forward, backward, or to the side - shows up in the biometric measurement and causes rejection.
