Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between cropping and resizing?
Cropping removes unwanted parts of an image, keeping the rest at full quality. Resizing changes the overall dimensions (makes it bigger or smaller) without removing any part of the image. For passport photos, you typically need both — crop to the correct ratio, then resize to exact pixel dimensions.
Which aspect ratio should I use for passport photos?
Different countries have different requirements:
  • USA/India: 1:1 (square) - 2×2 inches
  • UK/EU/Schengen: 35:45 (approximately 7:9)
  • China: 33:48 ratio
  • Canada: 50:70 ratio
Our preset buttons make it easy to select the right ratio.
Does cropping reduce image quality?
No, cropping itself doesn't reduce quality. You're simply removing parts of the image. However, if you crop a small area and then enlarge it, you may lose quality. For best results, start with a high-resolution original image so your cropped area still has plenty of pixels.
Can I crop multiple images at once?
Currently, our tool processes one image at a time to ensure precise cropping for each photo. You can quickly upload and crop multiple images one after another. For batch processing, consider using desktop software.
