FAQs - Mexico Visa Photo

Do US citizens need a visa for Mexico?
No! US citizens can enter Mexico visa-free for up to 180 days with just an FMM (tourist card). No visa photos needed for tourism. However, for residency or work, you'll need to apply at a Mexican consulate with proper photos.
How many photos for Mexican residency?
You'll typically need 4-6 photos total: some for the consulate application and more for the INM canje process in Mexico. We recommend having at least 8 identical photos printed.
What's the income requirement for residencia temporal?
Requirements vary by consulate, but generally you need to prove monthly income of around $2,500-3,000 USD or savings of around $40,000-50,000 USD over the past 12 months. Check with your specific consulate.
Can I work on residencia temporal?
Only if you apply for work permission specifically. The standard residencia temporal doesn't include work rights. For remote work for foreign companies, the law is a gray area - many do it, but technically you should have "actividades remuneradas" authorization.
